Project Spark!

Through drama and visual art workshops, Spark! aims to engage children and young people, and work with them to learn vital life skills. We follow the TUNE Model which  focuses on:

TUNE IN - Be Aware and Manage Your Feelings
TUNE OUT - Be Aware of Others, Act in Harmony
TUNE to Learn – Tune to Your Learning Potential
TUNE Others - Teach Others What You've Learned

Spark! is based in the UK and is currently up and running in a number of schools throughout London, working with a whole variety of children and young people. Our experienced facilitators (David, Alex and Del) run two hour sessions which are tailored to the needs and requirements of each individual group. Amongst other things, sessions include games, image work, story work, basic forum theatre and lots of laughing. Through exploring issues and emotions one step removed from the children’s own lives we provide them with a forum to explore and understand topics which may be difficult for them to process on a direct, personal level. There is always time for discussion, reflection and consolidation of discoveries, as well as opportunities to consider personal opinions, beliefs and values. Theme based exercises focus on increasing confidence and self-awareness, relaxation and expression, and exploring ways to change or solve difficult situations. Children and young people are encouraged to work with a range of other group members. Through participating in varied and challenging games, exercises and discussions, they work on improving communication skills and showing empathy towards each other.

Project Spark! is in the early stages of development and we are learning more and more everyday. The journey is just beginning...

From Del, Spark! Programme director:

Hello! My name is Del Taylor and I am working on Project Spark! as a project director and workshop leader. I am a freelance drama and visual arts facilitator and I am currently working on a variety of projects, with a range of participants. I worked with FunForLife on the post-tsunami projects in Sri Lanka which was an amazing and sobering experience. I have an MA in Theatre Practice and I am also a founder member of the theatre company Fools' Armoury.
